About Denari
What does Denari do?
Denari is a practice management and accounting automation platform built for public accounting firms. It's designed around automating the manual, repetitive parts of firm operations, not just organizing them. This means our partner firms spend less time on administrative coordination and more time on client work.
What makes Denari different from other practice management and orchestration platforms?
Many tools are built primarily to organize and centralize information, a better version of a shared drive with task lists attached. Denari is built around automating the work itself, treating automation as the default rather than a feature added on top of a collaboration tool.
Where is Denari based, and who built it?
Denari was founded in 2023 and is based in Madison, Wisconsin. It was started by entrepreneurs Nate Herbst and his son, Sawyer, after they acquired an accounting firm (Lucida), and immediately saw the need to improve its day-to-day operations.
Getting Started & Pricing
How long does it take to get set up on Denari?
Setup time depends on which apps your firm needs, but most firms can be up and running on Denari in as little as two weeks.
Does Denari integrate with the tax software firms already use?
Yes. Denari connects to most of the leading tax platforms firms already run, so your existing tools stay in place while Denari brings the data together.
How much does Denari cost?
Denari charges one flat, predictable fee based only on the size of your firm. Every feature, every app, and every employee is included, with no per-app, per-report, or per-seat charges - up to 15 employees. For firms larger than that, we work with you directly to build an Enterprise plan tailored to your firm and its specific workflows.
Can clients upload documents through a portal?
Yes, part of the Denari platform is a client-facing portal to exchange files, sign, and pay, without endless email chains.
Security & Data
How does Denari protect client financial data?
Denari secures client data with US-only data residency, so nothing is stored, transferred, or processed outside the United States. The platform is built to comply with IRC §7216 and §6713, and Denari maintains a formal Written Information Security Plan aligned with the IRS Safeguards Rule, FTC Safeguards Rule, and GLBA. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit, with dual-layer server-side encryption on firm and client documents. Denari is SOC 2 Type II audited, with ISO 27001 and ISO 42001 certification targeted for October 2026, and client or firm data is never used to train AI models.
Is Denari SOC 2 compliant?
Yes, Denari is SOC 2 Type II audited.
Who owns the client data stored in Denari?
Our partners own their data and can export it. Denari uses aggregated data that is anonymized to improve the software experience though it’s never used to train AI models.
Switching Platforms
How does migrating to Denari from another platform work?
Most firms are live on Denari in 2–4 weeks per app, depending on scope. You don't have to rip and replace your current software. You can move one app at a time or everything at once. Denari also migrates your relevant historical data, so your firm keeps its past records and doesn't start over from scratch.
Every migration follows the same path:
Scoping: we map your current setup and the data to bring over
Configuration: we set up Denari and import your historical data
Testing: we check the data and workflows before launch
Training: we get your team comfortable with the platform
Go-live: you switch over
Ongoing support: we stay with you after launch
Will my team need training to switch to Denari?
Most teams pick up Denari quickly since it's built around the workflows your firm already runs, but we provide hands-on onboarding as part of the setup to get everyone comfortable.
What should firms do about FileCabinet CS reaching end-of-life?
Start planning now, well before tax season crowds out your options. FileCabinet CS reaches end-of-life on December 31, 2027, and Denari can help either way: migrate your documents off FileCabinet CS on their own, or migrate onto the full Denari platform for a connected experience across documents, workflow, billing, and client communication.
